The DefectInspector system is undoubtedly the most powerful defects management application on the market today. Using a combination of DefectInspector on the PC (to quickly create comprehensive and detailed inspection check lists) and also on the Pocket PC (to capture inspection results remotely on-site), DefectInspector transforms the way companies manage defects as projects near practical completion.
DefectInspector uses a unique hierarchical work breakdown structure to map the project in terms of items to be inspected ensuring the inspection process is comprehensive and nothing is missed. The inspection list is uploaded from a PC to a Pocket PC (PDA) device which is then used by inspectors to record the results of their inspection (both items passed and defects).
DefectInspector on the Pocket PC enables not only the capture of defects but also the assignment of responsible contractors and estimated costs to rectify the problems. With an integrated camera, pictures of the defects can be taken and marked up to assist the contractor and maintain a pictorial record.
On returning to the office, the inspection results are downloaded to the PC and automatically emailed by trade to the relevant contractors who fix the defects.
On completion, the contractor updates the inspection list and returns to the Inspector for automatic update of the Defects Register and DefectInspector and re-inspection by the inspector. DefectInspector is extremely feature rich yet simple to use and delivers real value in reducing the risk of project delays and cost blow-outs from the poor management of defects.
If your company currently struggles with the management of defects by using hardcopy check lists, spreadsheets and lots of data entry, or you are not aware of the estimated cost to rectify all outstanding defects, both before and after practical completion during the defects liability period, then DefectInspector is for you.
